Exploring the Nature of Knowledge in Knowledge Management
Ivy Chan, Patrick Chau.
The field of KM is evolving and attracts focus of researchers and practitioners from multi-disciplinary perspectives, yet it remains elusive to many organizations. It is evident that organizations encounter unmet promises and thwarted results in their KM endeavors, from which there is a need to appreciate how KM and its related issues are perceived by practitioners. This study is motivated to elicit rich and broad-based empirical perceptions from practitioners centered the primary element of KM – knowledge, in turn to highlight unexplored but vital issues in KM discourse. Focus group (FG) study was used in this study to collect the empirical data through interactive discussion. Preliminary results from the FG with implications were presented.
